Data Modeler for Notes
The Data Modeler for Notes creates and manages metadata models for Notes applications. These models can be used by Business Intelligence applications or enterprise applications to easily and efficiently access, report on, and analyze Notes application data. The Data Modeler provides an easy to use wizard interface to take the user through a step-by-step process to create complete and fully functional metadata models. The Data Modeler reduces the complexity of Notes application structures to meaningful metadata definitions that can be understood and used immediately by nontechnical business users.
The Data Modeler supports multiple BI platforms and metadata standards, including Cognos, Business Objects, Information Builders as well as the open OMG XMI standard. The Data Modeler supports multiple strategies for accessing Notes data: Direct Access using ODBC and External Staging to a relational database. The Data Modeler eliminates common reporting headaches caused by nonstandard Notes data structures such as multivalue fields.

The Data Modeler is based on a simple four step wizard interface:
- Select the Notes database and data access strategy
- Select the database forms which will define reportable data structures
- Define table elements and metadata attributes
- Generate model definition files, optimized data access views, embedded metadata and DataBridge transfer documents
The wizard makes it simple and straightforward to create any number of Notes metadata models, to support all types of reporting and analysis. Data Modeler model definition files can be imported directly into leading BI tools to eliminate time consuming and highly specialized metadata modeling efforts. The Data Modeler output is automatically optimized for query performance and data integrity.
The Data Modeler makes it possible to dynamically link Lotus Notes and Business Intelligence, enabling integrated solutions which deliver the combined strengths of both platforms. The Data Modeler allows you to easily create live metadata links to Notes documents.
